UPS opens driver training facility in Atlanta

The shipping and logistics provider will open a UPS Integrad training center in Atlanta, GA. this December, which features an outside course that mimics a small town.

UPS will open a driver training facility in Atlanta this December.
At UPS Integrad training centers, UPS drivers learn the company’s driving and service methods, are shown how the methods work and then practice these methods in a realistic, hands-on fashion, the express carrier said.
The training uses three-dimensional computer simulations, webcast learning modules and classroom instruction. Separate classes for driver supervisors are also performed at UPS Integrad training centers.
The center in Atlanta features an outside course that mimics a small town. Instructors use this course to reinforce safety, customer service and efficiency.
The first UPS Integrad training center opened in 2007 at Landover, Md.
Since then, UPS has seen strong improvements in safety, production, service indices and workforce retention.
In addition to the Atlanta and Landover sites, the company has UPS Integrad training centers in Portland, Ore., Phoenix, and suburban Chicago.
