MEDITERRANEAN/CANADA CONFERENCE REINSTATES BUNKER SURCHARGE
The Med Can Conference will reinstate eastbound and westbound bunker
adjustment factors on Nov. 1.
The conference, which covers the trade between the Mediterranean and Canadian
East Coast ports, has set its fuel surcharge at $25 (U.S.) per TEU.
The members of the Med Can conference are Canada Maritime, Cast, Zim Israel
Navigation and DSR-Senator.
The Mediterranean North Pacific Freight Conference, responsible for setting
rates and charges for the Canadian and U.S. Pacific Coast port range, is also considering
the introduction of a bunker surcharge.
The recent surge in fuel prices has led numerous conferences to increase or
reinstate bunker charges.
