EUROPE/MIDEAST CARRIERS RAISE EASTBOUND RATES
Shipping lines of the Europe Middle East Rate Agreement have announced a plan to raise eastbound freight rates from the United Kingdom, North Continent and Scandinavia to the Mideast Gulf, effective April 1.
The increases will be $200 per 20-foot container and $300 per 40-footer.
The carriers of the Europe Middle East Rate Agreement are Andrew Weir Shipping (Ellerman), CMA CGM, Hapag-Lloyd, Maersk Sealand, P&O Nedlloyd, Safmarine, Senator Lines and United Arab Shipping Co.
The northern Europe/Mideast rate increases are scheduled at the same time as, and similar in their amounts to the eastbound rate rises planned by the Far Eastern Freight Conference in the northern Europe/Far East trade.
