HELLMANN COMMENCES ASIA/LATIN SEA/AIR SERVICE
Hellmann Worldwide Logistics is introducing a sea/air
service for shipments originating from Asia and bound for Latin America.
The new service moves cargo by ocean to Los Angeles, and then forwards it to
its final destination by air freight, either directly into Latin America or via Miami.
Commenting on the sea/air service, Hellmann said that manufacturing in Asia
costs less, but high air freight expenses could quickly reduce any competitive edge in the
market. On the other hand, ocean transport is cheaper, but transit times are slow. The
sea/air service combines both modes of transport.
