ATA: NOVEMBER FREIGHT VOLUMES DROP SHARPLY

   Freight volumes fell sharply in November for U.S. member airlines of the Air Transport Association.

   Total cargo volume fell 14.4 percent to 1.82 million revenue ton miles in November. Freight and express volumes fell 9.7 percent to 1.71 million revenue ton miles, while mail plummeted 52.8 percent to 108,854 revenue ton miles. International cargo was down 16.2 percent to 901,470 revenue ton miles. Freight and express was down 16.1 percent, to 862,329 revenue ton miles.

   Through the first 11 months of 2001, total cargo volumes were down 10.3 percent to 20.27 million revenue ton miles. Freight and express fell 9.0 percent to 18.40 million revenue ton miles. International cargo was off 7.9 percent to 10.26 million revenue ton miles, with freight and express volumes off 7.9    percent, to 9.83 million revenue ton miles.
