Menlo continues to lease air cargo service from World

World Airways said it will provide dedicated carriage to a major international freight forwarder with two DC-10-30F freighters under a one-year contract valued at $22 million.

World Airways spokesman Steve Forsythe said the customer is Menlo Worldwide Forwarding, the heavyweight forwarder acquired by UPS in December.

Menlo is an existing customer. Last year World operated a DC-10 with service between Menlo's Dayton, Ohio, hub and Brussels, Belgium, five times a week. Menlo extended the contract during the peak season for airlift between Dayton and Los Angeles, and between Dayton and Hong Kong for two months on an MD-11 cargo plane.

Last week World announced a $116 million contract with Taiwanese carrier EVA Airways.
