Hyundai names first non-Korean-built containership

Hyundai Merchant Marine has named a new 4,700-TEU ship “Hyundai Glory,” the first containership built outside Korea by the Korean shipping group.

The container vessel was built at the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries shipyard in Japan.

“This is the first time that Hyundai Merchant Marine has had one of its container vessels constructed abroad, and a heartening example of Japanese/Korean cooperation,” Hyundai said in a statement.

The “Hyundai Glory” will be deployed in the transpacific trade.
