Unisys selects DHL for worldwide after-market service logistics
Unisys Corp. has awarded DHL a seven-year contract to handle its worldwide after-market service logistics, previously handled by more than 100 different providers. No financial details were disclosed.
Under terms of the contract, DHL now manages Unisys’ inventory and distribution of high technology and electronics replacement parts, and provide reverse logistics services for its maintenance service customers from more than 270 locations in 55 countries. DHL’s transportation services for Unisys include same-day, express, ground and freight services.
From the start of 2007, DHL will transition Unisys onto its global service parts logistics technology platform.
DHL has provided services for Unisys since 1997 and has handled service parts logistics for Unisys in Australia, several countries in Europe, and in most of Latin America. The new contract will extend DHL services into Europe; North and South America; the Middle East and Africa; and the Asia Pacific region.
“With thousands of service requests per day from our clients around the world, it was imperative for Unisys to streamline our service logistics process through a reliable provider with a strong global network,” said Tom Sunseri, Unisys’ vice president and general manager, service supply chain operations.
