Schenker to use GT Nexus portal for booking confirmations
Alameda, Calif.-based GT Nexus said Monday that Schenker, one of the world’s biggest providers of integrated logistics services, will connect its systems to GT Nexus to manage standardized shipment status messages and booking confirmations.
The first phase of the project involves containers moving on Schenker’s behalf to and from the United States and Canada.
Schenker runs several customer-facing systems that will consume the shipment status information facilitated by GT Nexus data quality management programs. The result will be better container visibility for Schenker customers and better internal control of the company’s ocean container flows, GT Nexus said in a release.
The system will roll out for Schenker’s North American operations during the fourth quarter of this year.
“Visibility is a strategic differentiator in our business,” said Arnold da Silva, head of ocean freight product management for Schenker in the Americas, in a statement. “This new capability enhances our existing technology investments and allows us to give our customers the shipment information they need to run their operations.”
