The Alabama State Port Authority Board of Directors on Friday authorized the acquisition of two industrial tracts at the Port of Mobile, the authority announced Monday.
The tracts are adjacent to the Choctaw Point Complex and “are strategic to the port authority’s long-range growth by providing expansion opportunities for the port’s intermodal investments,” said Chief Executive Officer James Lyons, in a statement.
The Choctaw Complex includes APM Terminals Mobile, the Intermodal Container Transfer Facility and the Intermodal Logistics Park.
The ASPA said the tracts – one at 35 acres, the other at 63 – provide additional land for future investments involving container and rail facilities.
