“Cougar Ace” redelivered to owners
Salvage company Titan Maritime, a subsidiary of Oakland, Calif.-based Crowley Maritime Corp., Thursday redelivered the MOL-operated car carrier “Cougar Ace” to its owners in Dutch Harbor, Alaska, following a 24-day operation.
The vessel rolled on its side south of the Aleutian Islands last month with a load of about 5,000 vehicles on its way to West Coast ports in Canada and the United States. MOL suspects a ballast water adjustment left the ship vulnerable to a big wave that knocked the ship over.
Titan said the ship still has a small list to port to contain the small pockets of water still onboard, but is well within normal operating parameters.
