FEDEX WILL EXPAND U.S. DATA NETWORK

FedEx Corp. said it will build a technology center in Colorado to complement another opened in Dallas in August.

FedEx is opening the centers to support electronic commerce expansion. “Strategic software development at both facilities will strengthen the company’s leading role as a major provider of e-commerce and logistical services to small, medium and large customers worldwide,” the company said.

Construction is slated to begin in Colorado this month with completion expected next August. The facility will house some 600 employees in software and digital lab spaces, offices, a training facility, a multi-use trail, a fitness center and a cafeteria.

The Dallas center opened last month to support software development for e-commerce and supply chain services, as well as fleet scheduling tools. FedEx also has centers in Memphis, Los Angeles, Pittsburgh, Florida and Ohio.

FedEx said it invests about $1.5 billion a year into its IT network.
