Weakened storm still causes delays
A storm in the Caribbean that appeared to be turning into the year's first hurricane two days ago has weakened to a tropical depression, but the storm has still churned up shipping lanes enough to cause some delays and voyage reschedulings.
Tropical Shipping alerted its customers Thursday that sailings scheduled to arrive Wednesday in St. Maarten and Thursday in Anguilla had been delayed by one day, and that the Saturday sailing from Puerto Plata to Palm Beach had been rescheduled for Monday.
However, a sailing to Providenciales was expected to arrive Friday, as per the normal weekly schedule. Tropical also said the Friday sailing from Port Everglades to Grand Cayman would depart early to stay ahead of the storm.
