The Box Club of chief executives and managing directors of the largest container shipping lines are meeting in Barcelona today (Wednesday).

Twenty five carrier executives are getting together to talk about industry issues. The secretive carrier group, formally called International Council of Containership Operators, does not publicize the contents of its discussions.

According to one carrier, the meeting is due to discuss U.S. and European Union shipping policies, port/vessel security, onboard safety and environmental issues.

The current meeting is chaired by Ib Kruse, of Maersk Sealand.
