Port of Vancouver, B.C. backlog to last until March
The backlog of containers at the port of Vancouver, B.C. Deltaport facility caused by poor weather, could remain until March, according to FedEx Trade Networks.
On Jan. 19, TSI Terminal Systems Inc., the largest container terminal operator at the port, issued a “Force Majeure Notice” limiting berthing at the terminal until the congestion is reduced. On that day there were over 100,000 feet of import cargo sitting on the ground awaiting transport via Canadian National Railway Co., said FedEx.
CN has increased the number of railcars provided to Deltaport, adding one extra train to Chicago each week.
