STRANDED SHIP RAISES QUESTIONS ABOUT FUTURE OF VALUESHIP
The first containership chartered by ValuShip Ltd., the new transatlantic niche carrier, has remained in the port of Rotterdam for two weeks, raising questions about the future of the new entrant’s service.
Canada-based ValuShip, run by Klaus Glusing, the former head of Cast, has chartered two containership for its new liner service between the west coasts of the U.S. and Canada and northern Europe.
The first vessel, the 1,022-TEU “Brave Eagle,” sailed from the port of Vancouver, British Columbia, on Dec. 20 and arrived in the port of Rotterdam in mid-January, where the ship has remained since.
The “Brave Eagle” was due to sail from Rotterdam on its return voyage on Jan. 15.
The second chartered ship, the “Stadt Berlin,” is currently sailing from North America across the Atlantic.
The management of ValuShip at its office in Vancouver, British Columbia, was not available for comment.
