IRI EXTENDS TALKS WITH GERHARD KURZ
International Registries, Inc., in Reston, Va., confirmed on Thursday
that discussions are continuing about a leadership role at IRI for Gerhard Kurz, general
manager and president of marine transportation of Mobil Shipping Co. in Fairfax, Va.
"We see IRI evolving along the lines of a legal partnership, with
responsibility divided equally among its principals," said a spokesman for IRI, which
administers the Marshall Islands flag register.
Kurz’s office had no comment. Informed sources reported that Kurz’s
plans were dependent on the timetable of an anticipated merger of Exxon and Mobil.
