PORT OF LE HAVRE FIRST-HALF TONNAGE UP 4.4%
The Port of Le Havre said its tonnage through the first six months of 2001 improved 4.4 percent over the year-earlier period to 34.3 million tons.
Container volume increased 4.1 percent to 7.1 million tons, while general cargo increased 4.8 percent to 8.9 million tons.
Trade in crude oil rose 12.6 percent to 18.2 metric tons while coal tonnage decreased 39 percent to 1 million tons. Roll-on/roll-off trade, excluding ferry traffic, rose 24.2 percent.
