APL, TMM, LYKES ADD LOS ANGELES CALL TO MEXICO/ASIA LOOP
APL and Transportacion Maritima Mexicana will reinstate
a call at Los Angeles on their joint Mexico Asia Express service early next month when
Lykes Lines joins the service.
The change will form part of a revision of the weekly container service
when Lykes Lines will enter the Pacific trade by buying space from APL and TMM.
The addition of a Los Angeles call will reverse a decision by APL and
TMM, announced in March, to make the service call only at Asian and Mexican ports, with no
stop at U.S. Pacific ports en route.
A spokesman for APL said that the company could not comment on the
change.
According to Lykes, the revised rotation of the service will be: Hong
Kong (Thursday/Friday); Kaohsiung (Saturday/Saturday); Busan (Tuesday/Tuesday); Kobe
(departure Thursday); Yokohama (departure Friday); Los Angeles (Monday/Monday); Ensenada
(Tuesday/Tuesday) and Manzanillo (Friday/Saturday), Mexico; Yokohama (arrival Saturday);
Kobe (arrival Monday) and Hong Kong again.
Details of the revised transit times, rotation and vessels for this
service are available on the ComPair Data global shipping database on
