WALLENIUS WILHELMSEN PICKS MANZANILLO AS LATIN AMERICAN HUB
Wallenius Wilhelmsen, a car and roll-on/roll-off transportation and logistics services company, said Monday it has designated Manzanillo, on Panama’s Atlantic coast, as the hub port for its service to and from South America.
The carrier will have a dedicated area to service vehicles and ro/ro shipments at the Manzanillo International Terminal.
“This move further reflects the company’s positioning of South America as a key component of our global trading network,” said Jan-Eyvin Wang, president of Wallenius Wilhelmsen for the Americas region.
The carrier will continue to offer direct service via the U.S. East Coast and Gulf to both the East and West coasts of South America, with calls at Manta, Ecuador; Iquique and Callao, Peru; San Antonio, Chile; Zarate, Buenos Aires; and Paranagua, Brazil.
Wallenius Wilhelmsen also has hub facilities in Baltimore; Brunswick, Ga.; and Port Hueneme, Calif.
