CONTSHIP ENTERS MIDEAST TRADE, APPOINTS AGENTS
Contship Containerlines has appointed five new agents in the Mideast Gulf as part of a move to expand its Europe/Mideast and Asia/Mideast trades.
Contship, which started its Europe/Far East services earlier this year, said that it is able to provide numerous options for the markets of the Arabian Gulf, through transshipment over Dubai or Khor Fakkan.
Previously, Contship had only a marginal presence in the Europe/Mideast trade.
The appointment of five agents in Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia marks an expansion in its coverage of markets in the region, it said.
The carrier’s Europe/Asia service calls at Mideast ports, and it operates an intra-regional service called Gulf Asia Liner Express.
Contship Containerlines’ agents are the National Shipping & Marine Service Co. in Doha; the Universal Freight Services Co. LLC in Muscat; Oceans Shipping Co. (Al Rashed Group) in Kuwait; Gulf Agency Co. (Bahrain) W.L.L. in Bahrain; and Yusuf Bin Ahmed Kanoo in Dammam. The latter agency already acts for Contship Containerlines in Jeddah.
Contship said that it aims to carry cargoes to the Mideast from Europe, the Far East and Southeast Asia.
