West Coast labor talks resume Wednesday

The Los Angeles-Long Beach Harbor Employers Association said Friday that negotiations with the Local 63A Office Clerical Unit (OCU) of the International Longshore Warehouse Union are expected to resume on Wednesday.

Both sides in the ongoing contract negotiations had been “internally caucusing” over the weekend.

“The parties made progress in closing some open items, but have not reached resolution on any of the core issues,” the employers association added.

The union’s contract with 14 employers in Southern California expired on July 1. Employees selectively held a strike at three of the employers, but returned to work last week as negotiations continued.
