The Virginia Port Authority has awarded a $2.8-million contract to L-3 Communications to enhance security at the Norfolk International Terminal, Portsmouth Marine Terminal and Newport News Marine Terminal port facilities.
The contract award was the result of a grant by the U.S. Transportation Security Administration to the Virginia Port Authority for the installation of closed circuit television cameras, supplemental lighting, and other security measures.
For this contract, L-3 has entered into a partnership with Industrial Video & Control, ClosedNetworks and Sarnoff/Pyramid Vision Technologies to provide a digital wireless intrusion detection and surveillance system.
