PIL, MISC AND OOCL IMPROVE ASIA-AUSTRALASIA SERVICE
Singapore-based Pacific International Lines and Malaysian International Shipping Corp., from Kuala Lumpur, have upgraded to fixed-day weekly their joint Asia-Australia/New Zealand service.
The previous 10-day service has been enhanced by a further two vessels to accommodate a 42-day round voyage. The service has been extended within New
Zealand to include calls at Wellington, Nelson and Port Chalmers.
The service still includes a north and southbound call to Brisbane, Australia.
The first sailing of the revised service commenced Jan. 16 when the vessel “Bunga Terasek” departed from Port Kelang to arrive in Auckland Feb. 3.
The revised rotation for the service is Port Kelang, Singapore, Brisbane, Auckland, Port Chalmers (fortnightly), Wellington (fortnightly), Nelson (fortnightly), Lyttelton, Napier, Tauranga, Auckland, Brisbane and back to Port Kelang and Singapore.
Hong Kong-based Orient Overseas Container Line takes about 25 TEUs per voyage both north and southbound, increasing if space allows.
