HIT CONTAINER TERMINAL TAKES DELIVERY OF NEW CRANES

Hongkong International Terminals, the largest terminal operator in the port of Hong Kong, has taken delivery of three new “super-post-Panamax” quay container cranes.

The new cranes will be located at HIT’s Terminal 7. They can handle ships with 22 rows of containers across, and have a 60-ton twinlift capacity.

“Together with the existing post-Panamax cranes and deep-water berths, HIT is well positioned to handle the next generation container vessels,” the terminal operator said.

The new cranes, manufactured by Zhenhua Port Machinery Co. in Shanghai, will help further improve the flexibility and productivity of HIT’s vessel handling capabilities, it added.
