Wallenius Wilhelmsen to start U.S./Middle East service
Scandinavian car carrier Wallenius Wilhelmsen is starting a monthly U.S. Gulf-East Coast/Middle East service in mid-May.
The “Middle East” service will initially commence with two roll-on/roll-off vessels capable of handling automobiles and non-container/breakbulk cargo. The port rotation will be Houston, Jacksonville, Charleston, Baltimore, Jeddah, Kuwait, Damman and Dubai. The transit time for Baltimore to Jeddah will be 19 days.
Additional ports of call in the Mediterranean, Red Sea, Black Sea and Persian Gulf will be serviced via transshipment and/or inducement the carrier said.
Wallenius Wilhelmsen said the service would eventually expand to four vessels, increasing the frequency to every 21 days.
