DHL opens Beijing pharma warehouse

DHL said Wednesday it has opened an additional facility in China designed to serve the pharmaceutical industry.
The logistics company said the life sciences and health care “competence center” in Beijing is similar to facilities opened in Shanghai in 2009 and in Seoul, Korea, this July.
The 140-square-meter temperature-controlled warehouse is located at the Beijing Capital International Airport and will offer dedicated temperature-sensitive storage for life science products with electronic temperature data record keeping and alarms.
DHL also offers loading and unloading of cool containers, handling of passive packaging, adding and retrieving of data loggers on request, coordinating with select air carriers for proper booking, and organizing necessary refrigerated trucks for pickup or delivery.
DHL said China is projected to become the world’s fifth-largest pharmaceutical exporter, mainly in active pharmaceutical ingredient- related products, and have the second-largest health care expenditure in the world by 2015.
