CROWLEY LINER SERVICES TO ADD U.S. GULF/LATIN AMERICA SERVICE
Crowley Liner Services-Latin America will start a new service, the Gulf Latin America Service (GLAS), providing weekly fixed-day sailings between Houston, Mexico, Central America, Panama, Colombia and Venezuela, starting May 15.
The service employs three 848-TEU lift-on/lift-off vessels with a rotation of Houston, Altamira and Veracruz, Mexico; Puerto Limon, Costa Rica; Manzanillo, Panama; Cartagena and Baranquilla, Colombia; and Puerto Cabello and La Guaira, Venezuela. La Guaira and Baranquilla will be alternated on a fortnightly basis. The service also offers fixed-day northbound sailings.
“We've returned to a weekly, fixed-day service and added another vessel in order to match the increased growth in this trade lane,” said Rinus Schepen, senior vice president and general manager for Jacksonville-based Crowley Liner Services-Latin America.
APL and Americana Ships, which includes Lykes and TMM, join Crowley Liner Services in the new link.
