MED/WEST COAST OF NORTH AMERICA CONFERENCE RAISES SURCHARGE
The Med Pac Conference, a price-setting carrier agreement in the trade between the Mediterranean and the west coasts of the U.S. and Canada, said that it will increase its “vessel-operating cost surcharge,” effective Nov. 1.
The surcharge will be raised by $50 (U.S.), to $100 per 20-foot container or $200 per 40-foot box.
The Med Pac Conference said that its carrier members found it necessary to increase the surcharge after a “financial review concerning vessel-operating-related cost issues.”
The Med Pac Conference carriers are Contship Containerlines, Italia and Zim Israel Navigation.
