AUSTRALIA SIGNS WCOÆS KYOTO CONVENTION
Australia has become the fifth country to sign the World Customs Organization’s revised Kyoto Convention.
The convention, which was revised last June, establishes modern international standards in customs procedures. It’s designed to enable more rapid clearance of cargo, people and transport through the use of computer technology and new targeting techniques such as risk management.
“These new guidelines implemented by Customs administrations will facilitate international trade and stimulate economic growth,” said WCO, based in Brussels.
The revised Kyoto Convention will come into force when 40 member countries of the WCO, which consists of 151 members, have signed the convention.
