UPS executive named chairman of IECC

   The International Express Carriers Conference has appointed Anton van der Lande, vice president of international public affairs for UPS, to chairman.

   He replaces David Burton of TNT/TPG, who resigned from the position to pursue other corporate activities, according to an Aug. 11 statement by the IECC.

   Van der Lande was regional director in Europe for IML Air Services Ltd., which was bought by UPS in 1988. He is cofounder of the European Express Association and chairman of the International Chamber of Commerce Committee on Air Transport.

   The Brussels-based IECC, founded in 1983, represents the interests of the international express industry. The group’s members include DHL FedEx, TNT and UPS.
