PHILIPPINE AIRLINES ADDS U.S. FLIGHTS

Philippine Airlines will add three flights to Los Angeles and three
flights to San Francisco beginning Dec. 2, giving PAL 20 weekly frequencies to the United
States.
PAL will operate Airbus A340-300 aircraft on the new flights, offering
shippers lower-deck widebody freight capacity. PAL also will begin flying to Osaka, Japan,
three times a week.
The carrier, which a year ago was close to bankruptcy and still owes
creditors more than $2 billion, expects to turn a profit for the fiscal year ending in
March. The Philippine government recently has repealed the rights of several foreign
airlines that compete with PAL on international routes.
