SAFMARINE RE-ENTERS AFRICA/EUROPE TIMBER SHIPPING MARKET
Antwerp-based Safmarine has re-entered the conventional timber shipping market between West Africa and Europe after an absence of three years.
The first sailing of the monthly northbound-only service is scheduled at the end of April, with cargo loaded at Matadi and Boma in Zaire. The first vessel is scheduled to discharge cargoes at the European ports of Leixoes and Antwerp. Other destinations may be served on inducement.
Safmarine said that the conventional service will complement its network of container shipping services from Africa to continental Europe.
