GIPSA RAISES RICE INSPECTION FEE 4.1%
The U.S. Grain Inspection, Packers and Stockyards Administration will raise its rice inspection fee 4.1 percent, effective June 9.
GIPSA based its fee increase on rising salary and benefit costs, along with its projected fiscal year 2003 workload. The fee increase for rice inspections will allow the agency to collect $155,500 in additional revenues from an estimated volume of 3.4 million metric tons.
The fee increase applies to GIPSA customers that produce, process and market rice for domestic and international markets. There are about 550 rice customers located mostly in Arkansas, Louisiana, and Texas.
