WTO SEEKS LATIN AMERICA’S SUPPORT FOR NEW LIBERALIZATION ROUND
Mike Moore, director-general of the World Trade Organization, will visit the leaders of five Latin American countries from Nov. 25 to Dec. 6 in a bid to revive attempts to carry out a new round of trade liberalization negotiations.
One year on since the failed ministerial conference in Seattle, Moore will travel to Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Mexico and Brazil.
“The region includes a good number of countries that are staunch supporters of the WTO, and it is my intention to thank them for their contribution to the Organization and seek firm support for the launching of a new round of trade liberalization negotiations,” Moore said.
