U.S. SETS 2003 TARIFF-RATE QUOTA FOR IMPORTED TUNA
The U.S. government has established its tariff-rate quota for imported tuna in 2003.
The quota applies to tuna entered, or taken out of a warehouse, for consumption during the calendar year.
“It has now been determined that 18,777,508 kilograms of tuna fish in airtight containers may be entered for consumption or withdrawn from warehouse for consumption during calendar year 2003 at the rate of 6 percent ad valorem,” said the Bureau of Customs and Border Protection, which oversees the quota.
All tuna imported in excess of the quota will be dutiable at the rate of 12.5 percent ad valorem, the agency said.
