WTO appellate sides with U.S. antidumping duties for Japanese steel

The World Trade Organization’s Appellate Body upheld a previous organization decision that said the United States acted within its WTO obligation when it imposed antidumping duties on imports of Japanese corrosion-resistant carbon steel flat products.

On Sept. 15, Japan appealed a WTO panel report, which approved the U.S. Commerce Department’s decision to leave in place its antidumping order.

The panel and appellate body reports are expected to be adopted by the WTO Dispute Settlement Body in January.
