P&O NEDLLOYD, MAERSK, WAL CHANGE EUROPE/AFRICA PARTNERS

   P&O Nedlloyd is ending its north Europe/West Africa
slot-charter agreement with Maersk and starting a joint service with West Afrika Linien
instead.
    In early September, P&O Nedlloyd will stop using the three northern
Europe/West Africa loops (the "Maxi," "Elisa" and "Congo/Angola
combo" services) operated by Maersk and its subsidiary CMB Transport.
    It isn’t known whether Maersk will revise the services following the
departure of P&O Nedlloyd.
    The new northern Europe/West Africa service of P&O Nedlloyd and
West Afrika Linien will commence in early September with four ships sailing at a 10-day
frequency. Previously, West Afrika Linien’s service had three ships.
    The service will call at Felixstowe, Antwerp, Le Havre, Dakar, Conakry,
Abidjan, Tema, Lagos, Douala, Takoradi, Abidjan and San Pedro northbound.
    P&O Nedlloyd said that it will buy space from other lines to serve
ports in Gabon, the Congo and Angola.
