China Shipping drops Salalah hub
China Shipping Container Lines has dropped its transshipment hub of Salalah, Oman, on the Asia/Europe route, and said it will relay Middle Eastern and Indian Subcontinent cargoes at Port Kelang in Southeast Asia.
The “AEX1” service of the Chinese carrier, which employs vessels of about 5,500-TEU capacities, will no longer call at Salalah eastbound. This service also dropped the Salalah call in the westbound direction last November.
The “AEX1” service will have a revised rotation of Felixstowe, Hamburg, Rotterdam, Antwerp, Port Kelang, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Ningbo, Xiamen, Yantian, Hong Kong, Chiwan, Port Kelang, Malta and Felixstowe.
China Shipping recently said it will start a joint
Asia/Mediterranean/North Europe service with Norasia Container Lines and Zim Israel Navigation Co., due to commence at the end of this month.
