U.S./CENTRAL AMERICA REEFER CARRIERS TO DISCUSS RATES
Four major reefer shipping companies in the U.S./central America trade have set up an agreement to discuss freight rates.
Under the proposed “fruit carriers discussion agreement,” Great White Fleet (U.S.) Ltd., Dole Ocean Cargo Express, Network Shipping Ltd. and South Pacific Shipping Company Ltd. (also known as Ecuadorian Line) will be allowed to discuss rates and other conditions in the trade between the U.S. Atlantic, Gulf, and Pacific ranges and Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama.
The shipping lines have submitted the agreement to the U.S. Federal Maritime Commission.
