SOUTH SEAS STEAMSHIP/POLYNESIA LINE TO CO-ORDINATE SERVICES TO POLYNESIA

   South Seas Steamship Line, owned by Germany’s Hamburg-Sud, and Polynesia Line, Ltd, will start operating a coordinated service between the U.S. West Coast and Polynesia in February.

   The agreement has been approved by the U.S. Federal Maritime Commission.

   The carriers will provide one vessel each, exchanging space with one another to offer a combined fortnightly service calling at Los Angeles, San Francisco, Papeete, Apia and Pago Pago. They will continue to market their services independently.

   The first vessel, “Polynesia,” sails from San Francisco on or about Feb.9.
