SECURITY AGENCIES STAND DOWN FROM CODE ORANGE

The Department of Homeland Security on Wednesday lowered the color-coded terrorist alert level from Code Orange, or high risk, to Code Yellow, indicating an elevated risk of attack.

Border security agencies and law enforcement have been following extra security protocols since DHS raised the alert level to Code Orange in March, three days before hostilities in Iraq began.

DHS said the decision was based on a review of intelligence and potential threats, but emphasized that extensive protective measures would remain in place to guard against terrorist attack.
