EC clears blocked Chinese textile imports
The European Commission Monday adopted by written procedure a regulation allowing member states to begin issuing import licenses to Chinese exports currently blocked from entering the European Union.
The regulation will come into force Wednesday and will modify import levels to provide sufficient amounts to enable the import of all the blocked quantities, estimated at 87 million pieces.
The deadline for importers to request the issue of import licenses for goods shipped from China before July 20 has been extended until Sept. 20, after which no requests will be considered.
