Watco Supply Chain Services has introduced a new international division that will operate as a registered non-vessel operating common carrier and an indirect air carrier, the company said in a statement.
Watco Supply Chain Services, LLC has introduced a new international ocean and airfreight forwarding division, the company said in a statement.
The new division, Watco Supply Chain Services International, LLC, will operate as a registered non-vessel operating common carrier (NVOCC) and an indirect air carrier (IAC), offering door-to-door cargo operations including truck, rail, barge, and other specialized handling, along with air and ocean services.
The Watco Companies subsidiary hired 20-year international shipping veteran Annie Yan to lead the new division, which will specialize in oversized/overweight project cargo, break bulk, air/ocean charters, specialized containers, LCL and FCL.
“We are pleased to have Annie and team join forces with the Watco team. We see ever growing demand for these international services, particularly in and out of the Houston market,” Watco Supply Chain Services International President Eric Wolfe said of the new segment.
“Annie and her team began moving air and containerized shipments immediately and we look forward to see forward growth propelled via the strategic alignment with other Watco assets,” he added.
The news comes just a few weeks after the company purchased Clearfield, Utah-based intermodal services provider BCM Logistics, LLC for an undisclosed amount.
