AMA changes name, hires Dockman as head of transportation group
American Marine Advisors (AMA), a New York and Oslo-based merchant bank involved exclusively with shipping, has changed its name to AMA Capital Partners.
Formed in 1987, AMA said in a statement that the change of name 'signals a commitment to leverage (our) experience in global shipping into a broader transportation practice.' AMA Capital Partners has also moved its New York office into the Chrysler Building.
The bank also said it has appointed Michael Dockman to head a newly formed domestic transportation group. Dockman was with the Railroad Financial Corp., a specialist investment bank in Chicago focused on the rail industry.
AMA Capital Partners' New York office address is 67th floor, 405 Lexington Avenue, New York, N.Y., 10174; phone (212) 682-3344. The bank has also opened an office in Baltimore, and will shortly launch a $100 million investment fund.
