Savannah throughput up 16% in July
Georgia’s port of Savannah handled 127,471 TEUs in July, up 16.4 percent on the same month in 2002.
The Georgia Ports Authority also handled 26,529 auto and machinery units for July, up 37.4 percent on the previous year.
The Georgia authority will expand Savannah’s Garden City Terminal by 20 percent, at $110 million, adding 2,100 feet of additional berthing.
The Port of Brunswick’s vehicle processing facility at Colonel’s Island is also set to expand, at a cost of $6.5 million.
