ANZDL ADDS ONLINE TOOL TO AUTOMATE SHIPPERS’ DOCUMENT DISTRIBUTION
Australia-New Zealand Direct Line is introducing an online tool that allows shippers to automate the distribution of information and instructions required by their vendors and consignees.
Using the “relationship builder” tool, shippers will be able to supply their various trading partners, including freight forwarders, consignees and other logistics providers, with access to shipping documentation and information, such as fumigation certificates, bills of lading, and arrival notices.
ANZDL said that the online service is “designed to save shippers time and to speed up the shipping process by automating the distribution of information and instructions.”
Through its www.myanzdl.com site and e-mail notification service, ANZDL has already been able to provide shippers with access to their bills of lading, fumigation and insurance certificates, invoices, and arrival notices electronically. However, the carrier will now take these documents and distribute them directly to the shipper’s selected trading partners, based on the shipper’s individual instructions.
For example, when a bill of lading is ready for distribution, ANZDL’s system can be set up to send an un-rated copy to the freight forwarder, a non-negotiable to the consignee, and an original to the shipper. “This means that only the shipper in North America would have access to its confidential contract information, while its Australian consignee would instantly receive the bill of lading and fumigation certificate it requires to pick up the container,” ANZDL said.
ANZDL, a subsidiary of the CP Ships group, provides ocean transport services on the route between North America and Australasia.
