U.S. international air freight traffic down for sixth consecutive month

   U.S. international freight and express traffic fell by 4.2 percent in September, the sixth consecutive month this year that volumes are weaker than last year, according to the latest statistics of the U.S. Air Transport Association.

   International freight and express traffic decreased to 903 million revenue ton-miles in September, from 942 million in September of last year.

   For the first nine months of the year, international freight and express traffic dipped by 0.3 percent, to 8.1 billion ton-miles.

   The U.S. Air Transport Association reported lower September traffic figures for the Atlantic and Latin routes, but a small increase of 2.9 percent in Pacific traffic.

   U.S. Air Transport Association members include Alaska, Aloha, America West, American, American Trans Air, Continental, Continental Micronesia, Delta, Emery, FedEx, Hawaiian, JetBlue, Midwest, Northwest, Southwest, United, UPS and U.S. Airways.
