Shipping coordinating panel sets two public meetings in January
The Shipping Coordinating Committee, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, said it will hold two public meetings Jan. 8 and Jan. 26, to prepare for upcoming meetings of two subcommittees of the International Maritime Organization.
The Jan. 8 session concerns preparations for a meeting Jan. 26-30 in London of the IMO’s Sub-Committee on standards of Training and Watchkeeping. Topics include large passenger ship safety and training crews to launch fast rescue boats.
The Jan. 26 meeting will discuss plans for the Sept. 13-17 meeting in London of the IMO’s Sub-Committee on Stability and Load Lines and on Fishing Vessels Safety. Topics include harmonization of damage stability provisions in the IMO’s Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) convention and Torremolinos protocol.
