Schwarzenegger signs legislation authorizing bond vote
Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has signed a state bill authorizing a public vote in November on a $19.9 billion bond to improve California's failing transportation system.
Included in the bond money would be $3.1 million to relieve traffic congestion along major trade corridors, improve freight rail facilities, and enhance the movement of goods from port to marketplace. There would be $100 millions set aside specifically for port, harbor, and ferry terminal security improvements.
An additional $4.5 billion would go to unclogging congested highways in high-traffic corridors.
